Manic Monday: Let's Wrap Up Inktober with 25% Off All Ink

Hi friends,

October has a special name in the art world: Inktober, the month when artists everywhere pick up their pens and make something with ink every day. We're not all sketch artists, but every crafter I know loves ink in some form. We blend it, stamp it, spritz it and drip it across backgrounds. So before October slips away, we're celebrating the way crafters do best, with 25% off all ink products in the shop.

Here are a few easy ways to put your ink stash to work this week.

1. Blend a soft background

Grab two or three Tim Holtz Distress or Distress Oxide ink pads in colors that sit next to each other, like a few blues or a warm sunset mix. Using a blending tool, start off the edge of your paper and work inward in small circles, building color slowly. Oxides blend beautifully over each other, and if you flick a little water on top, they react for a soft, mottled look. It's a perfect backdrop for a sentiment or a stamped image.

2. Spritz and let the colors mingle

Sprays are pure fun. Mist Distress Spray, Oxide Spray or Dylusions across a tag or journal page, then spritz a little water and tilt the paper so the colors run together. Dry it with a heat tool and add another layer. For a touch of shimmer, finish with Mica Stains. Mixed-media friends, this is a great start for an art journal spread or a junk journal page.

3. Stamp crisp outlines you can color

When you want clean, detailed images, reach for Ranger Archival or Tsukineko Versafine. Once archival ink is dry, it's permanent, so you can color over your stamped image with watercolor or Distress ink without smearing the lines. If you have a Spellbinders BetterPress system, the BetterPress ink sets give your cards that pressed, letterpress look.

4. Play with alcohol ink backgrounds

Alcohol inks work their magic on slick, non-porous surfaces like Yupo paper or glossy cardstock. Drop a few colors on, add a little blending solution, and watch them spread into one-of-a-kind patterns. Alloys and Mixatives add a metallic glow. Cut your favorite pieces into card panels or ornament toppers for the holidays.

The ink sale: 25% off over 500 products

From Monday, October 26 through Saturday, October 31, every ink product in the shop is 25% off. That includes ink pads, re-inkers, sprays, alcohol inks, Alloys, Mixatives, and archival and BetterPress ink sets.

You'll find favorites from Tim Holtz Distress and Distress Oxide, Ranger Archival, Dylusions, Dina Wakley, Catherine Pooler, Tsukineko Versafine, Lisa Horton, Simon Hurley create., Spellbinders BetterPress and Hero Arts.

No coupon code needed! The 25% savings comes off automatically, so you'll see it on the ink products in the shop.

This is a great time to refill the re-inkers you've been running low on, or try a brand or color you've been curious about. And remember, US orders of $60 or more ship free.

Time to get inky

Whether you blend, spritz, stamp or drip, I hope you find a little time this week to play with color. Take a look at the sale and pick out a few new shades to help you finish Inktober in style. I'd love to see what you make!

Warmly,

Kim
